About The Position
TRC is seeking a Testing & Commissioning Technician I based out of the Houston, TX office. Test and maintain substation relays (electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor), control systems, and voltage regulation equipment. Calibrate protective relays and apply settings according to standards and operational requirements. Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers. Troubleshoot and repair substation relays and control devices in distribution substations. Plan and execute testing activities efficiently, meeting schedules and maintaining service continuity. Document testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations accurately.
Requirements
- Knowledge of commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair of substation relaying and control schemes.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and related software.
- Proficient in using test equipment, tools, and wiring; interpreting wiring and elementary diagrams; and performing basic testing and PC tasks.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or relevant experience in testing and commissioning.
