The Controls & Diagnostics Systems (CDS) department develops complex, cyber-resilient control systems and software for commercial and military engines including power and thermal management Systems and auxiliary power units. CDS also develops advanced diagnostic & health management systems to monitor our products, forecast events and help facilitate MRO operations. With growing emphasis on sustainability, CDS is on the forefront of system development for hybrid and electric propulsion. This role is a Remote role, meaning employees will work primarily offsite (from home). If living within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues, the manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree or 3 years with an advanced degree.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in aerospace propulsion and/or engine control systems
  • Experience using Linux environments and familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python
  • Experience in web development, PHP, SQL databases
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and adapt to evolving test schedules and program needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure engine and control system hardware and software are properly configured to support ground and flight test operations, including setup, validation, and readiness activities.
  • Perform engine system performance evaluation and prognostic health analysis, document findings, and troubleshoot control system issues to drive timely resolution.
  • Support the full test execution lifecycle by participating in test planning, pre‑ and post‑test briefings, mission control room data monitoring, and coordination with test cell and flight line teams.
  • Execute and maintain software and diagnostic tools used during testing, ensuring accurate configuration, data integrity, and effective communication of status and emerging issues.
  • Configure and execute test checkout of hardware/software configurations on electronic verification benches.
