Test & Validation Integration Engineer - Federal Customer

Dell Technologies•Mead, WA
•Onsite

About The Position

The Test & Validation Integration Engineer bridges staging and field deployment, ensuring enterprise infrastructure operates reliably before it reaches production sites. The role is performed onsite five days per week in a controlled lab environment and requires an active TS/SCI clearance. The engineer physically assembles, racks, stacks, cables, and configures multi-vendor compute, storage, and networking systems. They conduct pre-deployment tests, validate interoperability across network and container platforms, and improve staging workflows so field teams can activate systems efficiently. The role also involves troubleshooting hardware, configuration, and deployment issues, creating deployment documentation, and collaborating with systems and network architects to support repeatable rollouts.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience racking, stacking, cabling, and configuring enterprise infrastructure involving Cisco, Arista, and Palo Alto hardware.
  • Practical proficiency provisioning Dell PowerEdge enterprise compute and enterprise storage fabrics, including SAN/NAS, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, or NFS, RAID configuration, and iDRAC.
  • Practical experience installing, configuring, and verifying Kubernetes environments, container runtimes such as containerd, and basic container networking and storage plugins.
  • Ability to isolate physical and logical faults across Layers 1 through 4 using CLI diagnostics, optics validation tools, and packet captures.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including writing clear SOPs, cabling diagrams, and site activation runbooks for field deployment teams.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain access as required by the program.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate-to-advanced networking, systems, or security certifications, such as Cisco CCNP, Arista ACE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Experience deploying configurations with Ansible, Terraform, Python, or Bash to accelerate staging workflows and validation suites.
  • In-depth understanding of leaf-spine architectures, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, and stateful security inspection policies.
  • Strong command of Linux internals, systemd services, kernel networking parameters, and driver or firmware upgrades.
  • Familiarity with ePDU power distribution units, QSFP28/QSFP-DD high-density optics, and lab asset-tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Physically assemble, mount, and cable Dell PowerEdge servers, storage arrays, and network appliances in data center racks, following cabling and thermal best practices.
  • Apply baseline firmware, out-of-band management settings, and initial configurations across Cisco and Arista switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Dell storage systems.
  • Perform pre-shipment validation, including tests of network throughput, VLAN segmentation, routing protocols, firewall policies, and storage volume availability.
  • Deploy, bootstrap, and validate baseline Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal and virtualized nodes, including container runtime, CNI networking, and persistent storage checks.
  • Create and refine staging and commissioning procedures, identifying lab failure points and enabling field technicians to activate systems with minimal engineering support.
  • Troubleshoot configuration defects, hardware anomalies, and deployment bottlenecks to the component or protocol level.
  • Document procedures, cabling diagrams, and field deployment runbooks.
  • Collaborate with systems and network architects to support repeatable deployments.

Benefits

  • Direct access to enterprise-class hardware, sandbox environments, and emerging software stacks.
  • Sponsored training, conference attendance, and certification support.
