About The Position

The Resource Industries transmission development team in the drivetrain control systems & validation division is looking for a Test & Validation Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of transmission and torque converter control systems for hauling, cycling, and oil & gas applications. You will be provided with the unique opportunity to directly impact machine performance and durability for a variety of drivetrain programs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering, computer science, or materials science curriculum.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Extensive understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems

  • Technical Excellence: Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Project Management: Extensive knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Product Testing: Extensive knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Controls development tools and process experience (Powershift transmission controls preferred)
  • Ability and interest in working in a varying environment (field/shop/lab)
  • Ability to operate machines (after training)

Responsibilities

  • Work with design, mechatronics, systems integration, and software engineers to create, develop, and optimize hardware and controls for powershift transmissions.
  • Planning and executing on-machine control software calibration and validation.
  • Managing control system development, specifications, and design reviews.
  • Designing clutch control strategies to meet drivetrain performance and durability targets.
  • Performing simulation for clutch control systems.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to understand and optimize controls performance.
