The individual works independently, or as a key member of a develop team to support the development testing and evaluation of turbomachinery products. Individual plans and coordinates complex work assignments and department projects with minimal technical direction and routinely applies advanced technical training, procedures and equipment to support test or metrology activities. Individual develops written test, calibration, operation and maintenance procedures and trains fellow technicians in lower salary grade positions. The individual is regarded as a department-recognized technical authority, possessing comprehensive knowledge one or more areas of test or measurement sciences. Responsibilities involve operation, calibration or maintenance of equipment required to support production, development, first article and NPI products, performing fabrication, setup, installation, and evaluation functions in support of engineering projects. Requirements

  • 5+ years of applicable technician experience and training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Solar’s turbomachinery products, with emphasis on testing and/or metrology methods
  • Applicable technical Associates’ degree, or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Works independently, or as a key member of a develop team to support the development testing and evaluation of turbomachinery products
  • Plans and coordinates complex work assignments and department projects with minimal technical direction
  • Routinely applies advanced technical training, procedures and equipment to support test or metrology activities
  • Develops written test, calibration, operation and maintenance procedures
  • Trains fellow technicians in lower salary grade positions
  • Operation, calibration or maintenance of equipment required to support production, development, first article and NPI products
  • Performing fabrication, setup, installation, and evaluation functions in support of engineering projects
  • Provides direction to test technicians and coordination of complex work assignments and department projects
  • Coordinates work between various projects to support testing objectives and prioritizes inputs from competing interests
  • Develops solutions to difficult technical problems
  • Develops new techniques or procedures and evaluates and introduces new equipment to enhance safety, quality and velocity
  • Troubleshoots difficult technical issues
  • Transitions between related work areas to make significant contributions
  • Applies fundamentals of data evaluation, error and uncertainty analysis and equipment calibration fundamentals
  • Understands, complies and advocates company EHS procedures and frequently coaches others for safety
  • Demonstrates sound technical judgment and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical problems
  • Serves as the department focal point for expertise and knowledge in at least one key skill areas
  • Trains and mentors lower salary grade technicians
  • Relied upon to apply refined, specialized technical expertise
