Test Technician

About The Position

Andrenam is looking for a Test Technician to support the build, test, and deployment of our sensing systems. You'll work across the full lifecycle of our hardware, from prototype assembly and electrical integration to on-water field operations. The scope is broad, and how things get built, tested, and documented will be shaped in large part by you. We're a small team and growing quickly. Many of our processes are still being established, so you'll have a direct hand in building how we do things rather than just following what already exists. This is an hourly position with overtime opportunities during peak testing periods.

Requirements

  • Ownership over outcomes. You notice what needs to happen and take action. When something breaks or a gap exists, your instinct is to step in and solve it rather than wait for direction.
  • Comfort with autonomy. We're a small team building new processes as we go. You'll thrive here if you're someone who can assess priorities, manage your own time, and stay productive without a lot of structure around you.
  • Hands-on proficiency with electrical assembly, including soldering, wiring, and connector work. You can follow work instructions to build a prototype unit and handle delicate components with precision.
  • Curiosity across technical domains. This role spans prototype assembly, electrical integration, field testing, and boat-based deployments. You enjoy learning new systems quickly and aren't looking to stay in a narrow lane.
  • A documentation mindset. You're the kind of person who naturally thinks "I should write this down so the next person doesn't have to figure it out from scratch." Building repeatable processes is something you take pride in.
  • Solid troubleshooting instincts. When a system isn't working, you can isolate the problem methodically and work through it.
  • Strong time management and self-direction. You know how to structure your own day, manage competing priorities, and keep things moving.

Nice To Haves

  • Marine or boating experience. You'll be on the water regularly. Familiarity with maritime environments and vessel operations will help you ramp faster, but we can teach it.
  • Experience working at a hardware startup or in a prototyping environment where processes were still being established.
  • Background in manufacturing, test engineering, or field operations for electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build, troubleshoot, and deploy buoy systems independently, from prototype assembly through field operations.
  • Organize and manage the test area, establishing proper tool inventory, equipment storage, and workspace standards from scratch.
  • Support and coordinate the execution of test outings, including on-water deployment procedures and field operations.
  • Follow established procedures from engineering for assembly, testing, and field operations, and write your own standard operating procedures for routine testing tasks.
  • Support expanded testing operations, traveling up to 25% of the time for field deployments at test sites.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, including soldering and hands-on troubleshooting, and run checkout tests to verify system functionality.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation with overtime opportunities
  • Long-term equity incentive program with significant growth potential
  • Flexible PTO and 14 paid holidays
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision insurance
  • 401k
  • Lunch and snacks provided in office
  • Access to a unique work environment, blending technology, maritime, and defense
