About The Position

Eaton’s CPDI OPS Operations division is currently seeking a Test Technician - 1st Shift - RPO at our Spring Forest Rd site in Raleigh, NC. The Test Technician I will perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on single phase and three phase medium voltage UPS systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in electronics with testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Basic knowledge of Electronic Test Measurement Devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to take and give direction.
  • Ability to use good judgment and problem solving skills to make informed decisions.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Windows based operating systems and programs.
  • Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or electronic schematics.
  • Ability to completely test and troubleshoot electronic products.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colored wiring.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of switchboard and switchgear operations; electrical and electronic devices.
  • Two years post-secondary education with an Associate’s Degree in electronics from an accredited school.
  • Manufacturing systems knowledge (KANBAN, JIT, Production scheduling).
  • Experience with DC battery currents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, willingness to flex to different areas or local plants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position.
  • Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process and perform quality checks as instructed.
  • Read electronic schematics to ensure products meet defined specifications.
  • Report any Non-conformance items by utilizing our Quality Management Guidelines.
  • Recommend modifications and improvements to enhance the products for quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
  • Communicate with Production Associates, Quality Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers to resolve daily production and warranty issues.
  • Check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with ISO 9000:2000 standards.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions for the repair, replacement and calibration of laboratory tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Use the principles of 5S+ to ensure a clean and organized work area.
