About The Position

Upwing Energy is seeking an experienced test technician with expertise in performing tests for high-speed turbomachinery. This role involves developing and operating complex turbomachinery systems for oil and gas applications, executing an extensive test program through the hardware development lifecycle, including prototyping and delivery/installation. The ideal candidate enjoys unique challenges, varied assignments, and has the initiative to take on complex testing projects and drive them to completion. Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience testing turbomachinery equipment
  • Experience working with high voltage systems
  • Experience interpreting and using measurement equipment, including but not limited to prox. probes, accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, load cells and flow meters
  • Experience with computerized data acquisition and data reduction (LabVIEW preferred)
  • Computer knowledge and the ability to read, write and comprehend schematics (electrical, plumbing and instrumentation) and assembly drawings
  • Experienced in mechanical lifting and handling
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes and precision measuring, alignment and testing instruments
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA compliance, process safety management and risk assessment
  • Self-motivated and an independent worker
  • Team player

Nice To Haves

  • Experience plumbing and operating hydraulic systems
  • Experience laying out and wiring data acquisition systems
  • Forklift and crane certification

Responsibilities

  • Safely testing full electromechanical systems and subsystems consisting of motors, compressors, pumps and bearings, following methods, procedures, standards and sequences.
  • Completing test setups and instrumentation, running and observing tests, and acquiring/recording necessary test data for analysis by engineering.
  • Assisting engineering in the development and/or modification of procedures.
  • Reviewing work instructions, drawings, and verbal instructions of engineers to understand testing requirements of units under test.
  • Troubleshooting to the component level, often working independently.
  • Making adjustments to units under test to help meet test criteria.
  • Assisting in data reporting, including observations, anomalies, and configuration changes.
  • Providing feedback on integration and test to improve processes and designs.
  • Performing testing according to standardized procedures to ensure products meet customer specifications and ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Recording and documenting all test results accurately and comprehensively, ensuring proper control of test records in compliance with ISO 9001 documentation requirements.
