Test Technician 1
About The Position
The Test Technician 1 (also described in the position summary as Production Tester 1) prepares gaseous and diesel generator sets for production testing and assists with setup and teardown in test bays. The role includes installing fluids, programming controllers, connecting fuel lines, battery cables, exhaust systems, and data/sensing cables; testing generator-set accessories; operating computerized test equipment; documenting results; communicating status and results to internal teams; and following safety and environmental protocols. The position is based in Mankato, Minnesota, and is full-time. Rolls-Royce Power Systems provides power solutions and lifecycle support under its mtu brand, serving marine and infrastructure customers with gas and diesel engine systems and electrified hybrid systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly operations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with safety protocols and quality standards in assembly operations.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to changing technology.
Responsibilities
- Prepare generator sets for testing, including installing fluids, programming controllers, and connecting fuel lines, battery cables, exhaust systems, and data/sensing cables.
- Assist with setup and teardown in test bays as necessary.
- Conduct functional tests of generator-set accessories by powering components and checking performance against specifications.
- Operate computerized test equipment to enter, retrieve, and analyze test data and accurately document results.
- Communicate test preparation status and results to internal teams to support workflow and issue resolution.
- Follow safety and environmental protocols throughout testing.
