Test & Quality Technician I

FUTEK ADVANCED SENSOR TECHNOLOGY INCIrvine, CA
$29 - $33Onsite

About The Position

The Test & Quality Technician supports product validation and release readiness by setting up lab tests, running test procedures, collecting data, and drafting clear test reports. This role works hands-on with electrical/electronic systems and lab equipment to execute test scenarios developed with Test Engineers and Design Engineers. The ideal candidate is a sharp, detail-oriented technician who is comfortable in a lab environment, can follow and improve test procedures, and confidently uses AI tools to accelerate test documentation, generate or refine test scripts, assist with regression testing, and help troubleshoot issues. This position requires practical technical ability and curiosity not an engineering degree.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on lab skills and comfort working with electronics test equipment and wiring setups.
  • Ability to follow test procedures with high attention to detail and consistent repeatability.
  • Clear technical writing skills for test reports, results summaries, and documentation.
  • Confident using AI tools for test case generation, test script drafting, regression planning, and iterative refinement of procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset: able to isolate variables, reproduce failures, and document findings clearly.
  • Organized and methodical with good file management and documentation habits within existing company systems.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and test activities without sacrificing quality.
  • Associate degree required in a technical discipline related to electronics, electrical systems, testing, or manufacturing OR 3+ years of equivalent hands-on lab/test technician experience.
  • No engineering degree required; this is a technician role with practical testing responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting product validation, manufacturing test, or quality testing in an electronics/mechatronics environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with validation testing for electro-mechanical or sensor-based products.
  • Familiarity with regression testing concepts and structured test documentation practices.
  • Ability to solder small surface-mount components (e.g., 0402/0603) and through-hole components cleanly and reliably.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and engineering drawings for test setup and verification.
  • Experience working with firmware/software test workflows (capturing logs, running scripts, verifying logic behavior).
  • Comfortable creating test scenarios that reflect real customer environments and use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Execute product tests and validation procedures on multiple samples prior to release, supporting release readiness.
  • Set up lab fixtures, wiring, and instrumentation required for testing (power, signal, data capture, measurement connections).
  • Operate common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal analyzers, power supplies, function generators, and data acquisition tools.
  • Collect, organize, and extract test data; ensure traceability and repeatability of results within the existing system.
  • Draft and maintain test reports, test logs, and validation documentation using standardized company formats and tools.
  • Work with Test Engineers and Design Engineers to identify test scenarios, edge cases, and customer use cases; execute tests from the customer/system point of view.
  • Support hardware testing, firmware/software logic testing, and regression testing as directed by test engineering leadership.
  • Use AI tools to help generate, refine, and validate test cases and test scripts; extract insights from logs/results; and accelerate documentation workflows.
  • Assist with debugging by reproducing issues, capturing evidence (measurements, logs, steps), and clearly communicating findings to engineering.
  • Create and execute structured test scenarios based on system-level design documents, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Perform basic schematic and technical diagram interpretation sufficient to set up tests and verify correct connections.
  • Support rework and prototype build activities including soldering and component replacement when needed.
  • Support selected production-related activities as assigned to assist manufacturing needs and overall operational priorities.
