About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer for their Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The CAS business is a trusted provider of commercial aircraft solutions, developing, producing, and servicing advanced electronic controls for leading commercial aircraft manufacturers. In this role, the engineer will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls, solving challenging problems to enhance product performance and value. The position involves designing and supporting test equipment for electronic controls within the Fort Wayne factory and other BAE Systems sites globally. This role requires a combination of hands-on work, collaboration, and independent effort, with a hybrid work format allowing 3-4 days on-site in Fort Wayne, IN. Light travel (<10%) may be required.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant and professional experience
  • Ability to analyze and debug electronic circuits (e.g. analog, digital, power, and communication)
  • Ability to use various laboratory instrumentation (e.g. power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes)
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to interpret and implement electronic test requirements to demonstrate product performance
  • Ability to read, edit, and integrate software
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively multitask and manage priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to automate instrumentation for production testing and/or fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to program in various software environments (ex. Basic, UNIX, C++, NI LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, Visual Studio, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to design test simulation circuitry with appropriate derating, including schematic capture and PWB layout
  • Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with statistical process control techniques and analytical tools (e.g. Six Sigma, Capability Analysis)

Responsibilities

  • Implement automated test solutions on in-house and/or third-party systems utilizing product specific requirements
  • Design, integration, maintenance, and configuration management of automated test hardware and software
  • Coordinate part procurement and equipment builds to meet design and schedule requirements
  • Support repair and maintenance for equipment deployed at BAE Systems locations worldwide
  • Initiate continuous improvement of electronic controls as a response to test performance and yields
  • Liaise with Design Engineering in Endicott, New York to execute test solutions for new products
