The Test Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, analyzing, and documenting performance and validation testing of air handling units and HVAC systems. This role supports product development, quality assurance, certification compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives by ensuring products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and XNRGY performance expectations. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Engineering, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Certification teams to validate new products and support existing product enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product testing, validation, quality engineering, or HVAC equipment development.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and HVAC systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
  • Ability to analyze complex test data and identify performance trends.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset and teamwork orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HVAC, air handling units, thermal systems, or industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Experience working in laboratory and manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AHRI, AMCA, UL, CSA, or related standards is an asset.
  • Hands on mentality is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols for AHUs and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Perform laboratory testing to validate airflow, thermal performance, acoustics, energy efficiency, pressure loss, and system functionality.
  • Analyze test data and provide detailed technical reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications and engineering design requirements.
  • Support root cause investigations for product performance issues.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to evaluate new technologies, components, and designs.
  • Support prototype testing and performance optimization activities.
  • Participate in design reviews by providing testing insights and recommendations.
  • Recommend improvements based on test results and performance analysis.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure test equipment accuracy.
  • Support certification testing and third-party audits.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data.
  • Prepare comprehensive test reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain testing databases and validation records.
  • Present results and recommendations to engineering and management teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing methods, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Develop automated testing processes and data acquisition methodologies where applicable.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives and best practices within the engineering organization.
