About The Position

The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Test Engineer to work at our Picatinny Arsenal, NJ site. A Test Engineer is a creative and driven individual who is passionate about advancing propulsion technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experimental research and a desire to work on challenging and innovative projects. As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing sub-scale propulsion components to capture combustion physics-based properties. You will work closely with a team of engineers and researchers to develop and execute test plans, analyze data, and report findings.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion principles.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental setup, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test sub-scale propulsion components to capture combustion physics-based properties.
  • Develop and execute test plans, including the selection of appropriate instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for future research.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and researchers to design and develop new test rigs and experimental techniques.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient test environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
