About The Position

The Test Engineer will be responsible for specifying machine type, expected throughput, expected yields, and the required equipment manning. This involves close liaison with the customer to understand their needs and requirements, which may include customer-specific Test Equipment and Fixtures. The role also ensures that in a volume manufacturing environment, all manufacturing equipment performs as per supplier specifications and within quotation requirements, meeting all targets for machines, yields, and quality. Additionally, the Test Engineer manages all ongoing equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance schedules, line support for breakdowns, major machine overhauls, and the forecasting, stocking, and ordering of spare parts and consumables.

Responsibilities

  • Specify machine type, expected throughput, expected yields, and required equipment manning.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment performs as per supplier specifications and within quotation requirements.
  • Manage all ongoing equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance, line support, and major overhauls.
  • Forecast, stock, and order spare parts and consumables for Test Equipment and Fixtures maintenance.
  • Design the Test Process for new product introductions in conjunction with the Product Engineer.
  • Specify the correct types and quantity of Testers and introduce new technologies as required for customer-specific products.
  • Have start-up responsibilities during new product introductions to ensure the Test process operates as designed, proving Throughputs and Yields.
  • Agree the Manufacturing Handover process for volume production.
  • Work with the Quality group to establish Quality plans on a product-by-product basis and participate in ongoing quality issue resolution.
  • Cooperate with all departments within the Facility and act as a pro-active team member, taking a lead role on all Test related issues.
  • Provide all process documentation and Test Programs for production build, ensuring accuracy of Test and Fixture pin out listings.
  • Participate in Change Control Meetings and implement approved changes into the Test processes.
  • Manage major Test equipment movements and installations.
  • Negotiate and provide all third-party service contracts for Testers.
  • Maintain the appropriate level of spares and consumables for Testers and Fixtures.
  • Specify and order Test Fixtures required for the Test Process when a new customer is introduced.
  • Specify other non-recurring expenses during the quotation process that will be charged back to the customer.
  • Set up a measurement process for Test Yields, False Failure Rate, Tester Uptime, UPH Versus Quote, and Spares Inventory, reporting on a weekly basis.
  • Provide Customer Satisfaction to both Internal and External Customers by delivering the best Quality Products, Services, and Communication.
