About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Test Engineer. This role is a vital part of Eaton’s Testing Center of Excellence team, where you will collaborate closely with product development staff to guide product testing direction, support design initiatives, and ensure design robustness by adhering to required standards. You will lead the technical direction and execute tests at Eaton’s Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement of testing capabilities and processes while maintaining and enhancing lab safety. You will also support Eaton’s testing strategy by proposing centralized capability opportunities, recommending state-of-the-art equipment, and finding ways to increase the lab’s overall value to Eaton. As a Test Engineer, you may travel up to 10% annually to other local sites, with occasional travel within the U.S.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Franksville, WI. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of engineering experience with electrical products
  • A Professional Engineering license is a plus.
  • 2 years of experience in electrical testing and/or design of medium or high voltage electrical products is preferred.
  • Knowledge in the application of medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Familiarity with dielectric testing requirements of IEEE 4 and IEC 60060-1/-2.
  • Experience in developing electrical test systems (AC/DC, impulse, power/short-circuit, thermal, etc.).
  • Knowledge of power test equipment and measurement instrumentation.
  • Six-sigma trained to support measurement uncertainty assessment.
  • Experience working within quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on electrical tests of varying complexity.
  • Conduct standardized and unique tests on high voltage, high power, and thermal apparatus, adapting to project needs.
  • Develop and refine test methods and procedures to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Design and set up test circuits, run tests, collect data, evaluate results, and write reports.
  • Mentor lab technicians and design engineers on best testing practices.
  • Collaborate with product development to guide design direction and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Enhance Eaton’s testing strategy by advocating for centralized capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Approve and implement testing approaches and equipment setups.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC/ISO 17025 and A2LA certification requirements, and enhance lab and site safety.
  • Lead site safety initiatives as a MESH (Management of Environment, Health, & Safety) Champion.
