General Dynamics Electric Boat is a leader in the shipbuilding industry, designing, building, and maintaining advanced submarines. The D422 Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) organization supports all non-nuclear Electric Boat submarine programs for the COLUMBIA Class and VIRGINIA Class. Within ILS, the Obsolescence Management Team (OMT) is seeking a motivated individual to support the execution of the obsolescence management plan for the VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. The primary goal is to proactively manage and mitigate contractor furnished equipment obsolescence, ensuring construction cost and schedule are maintained, while also supporting lifecycle sustainment through engagement with the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Community. Obsolescence is defined as a part no longer being in production, not maintainable through sparing, or not commercially supported or available. The OMT is responsible for monitoring, validating, notifying, and supporting the technical mitigation of potential obsolescence issues with an enterprise approach to minimize risk across all platforms and lifecycle phases. This involves gathering all relevant information for an obsolescence issue and consolidating it into a central database for tracking and reporting.
