Teledyne Digital Imaging's products are used worldwide in machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multimedia. As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Test Engineer - NPI in Waterloo ! The Test Engineer will support the introduction of new image sensor products into production and will be responsible for developing and implementing test methods and platforms for wafers and packaged sensors, from prototype to full-scale production. The engineer will work closely with R&D, sensor process development, production, semiconductors fab (based in Bromont), and camera teams (based in Montreal) to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing. The engineer will also play a key role in the production ramp-up of complex sensors that are challenging to manufacture. This includes analyzing yield issues, identifying root causes, and collaborating to implement yield improvement solutions and enable autonomous production with acceptable performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and sensor packaging.
  • Experience with test equipment and data analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automated test tools (e.g., LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Python).
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and data traceability systems.
  • Familiarity with NPI and industrial quality methodologies.
  • Experience in camera or imaging systems.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze test data to ensure product traceability and performance.
  • Improve yield for complex sensors through failure analysis (8D methodology) and data-driven solutions.
  • Develop and optimize test plans and commission platforms for image sensor test.
  • Define test procedures for wafer probing and functional testing.
  • Develop test software management, configuration and control.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, semiconductor, and camera teams.
  • Coordinate with external partners for test equipment deployment.
  • Support production teams during new product ramp-up.
  • Investigate and resolve test and assembly issues.
