About The Position

We are seeking a Test Engineer to join our team in Middletown, RI. The team is responsible for the test, evaluation, and design verification of the system under development. Additionally, the team ensures functional and technical specifications and standards are met, as well as investigate software and hardware interface problems. Responsibilities include developing, modifying, and executing test plans, test procedures, and test reports, as well as assembly and standup of computer equipment. While this position will mostly have regular business hours, some overtime hours, shift-work and occasional travel may be required. The ideal candidate will bring experience with Navy submarine combat or training systems, including familiarity with AN/BYG-1, basic computer/network hardware skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to follow established procedures. The annual base salary is $95,000 – $110,000, with final compensation based on experience and skills. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must have an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire. Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline and 2–4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • Experience in test engineering, systems engineering, software testing, systems integration, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing, modifying, executing, or documenting test procedures and analyzing test results.
  • Familiarity with Navy submarine combat systems, training systems, or similar Navy technical environments.
  • Experience working with computer hardware, networking equipment, or test environments.
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Basic Linux command-line knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, shift schedules, and travel as required to support program testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System or similar Navy submarine combat or training systems.
  • Prior Navy or submarine operations experience, particularly with submarine combat systems, sonar, or training systems.
  • Experience supporting formal test events, demonstrations, or customer acceptance activities.
  • Familiarity with networking, system integration, virtualization, or Linux/Windows environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting software, firmware, hardware, or system-integration issues.
  • Experience with Strike Software, including TTWCS, TCIP, or MDS.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing system requirements and technical documentation to develop test methods, test cases, and procedures for system verification and validation.
  • Developing, modifying, executing, and documenting test procedures and analyzing results to verify that system requirements are met.
  • Participating in informal and formal test events, demonstrations, and customer-driven test activities.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and documenting software, firmware, hardware, and system-integration defects and working with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Configuring and maintaining test laboratory environments in accordance with approved drawings, port maps, and system requirements.
  • Testing computer and network equipment and supporting basic hardware, networking, Linux, and test-environment troubleshooting.
  • Documenting test results, maintaining test records, and contributing to test reports and other technical documentation.
  • Communicating test status, issues, risks, and recommendations to engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and DoD laboratory personnel, and traveling as needed to support test activities.
