About The Position

Rivian is hiring a Test Engineer II for its Charging & Energy Product Development department in Torrance, California. The role focuses on developing and executing test plans for Rivian’s Charging & Energy products, including hands-on system-level hardware testing and the design and modification of test fixtures and instrumentation. The engineer will coordinate with software and hardware teams and lab personnel, manage issues through resolution, analyze hardware after testing, and communicate findings in design reviews.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in a test engineering role.
Hands-on experience testing hardware at the system level.
Experience developing test plans, selecting equipment, and executing tests.
Expertise with instrumentation and lab equipment such as power analyzers, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and oscilloscopes.
Experience working with medium- and high-voltage systems up to 1000 VDC.
Strong technical communication and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, Linux, and LabView.
Exposure to industry standards such as MIL-STD-50G, UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 1741, and UL 50E.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans for Rivian’s Charging & Energy products.
Work with software and hardware engineering teams to understand test requirements.
Develop test procedures that define test setup and execution instructions.
Design and modify test fixtures and instrumentation for charging equipment testing.
Provide direction to lab personnel setting up and executing system tests.
Log and manage software and hardware issues through resolution.
Lead teardown analysis and post-process hardware at the end of testing.
Participate in design reviews and share findings to inform requirements.
