About The Position

The Test Engineer II identifies and mitigates risks for new products by developing validation plans, adapting existing test methods, or creating new testing approaches. The role evaluates production readiness by analyzing test results, assessing rider and business risk, and recommending further testing or validation. Working with Field Quality, Design Engineering, Quality, and Product teams, the engineer communicates technical findings and recommends actions to reduce warranty claims and improve rider satisfaction. The position conducts structured investigations of field failures, including reproducing complex failures in the lab, analyzing data to identify probable root causes, and determining whether failure trends require revised validation criteria. It also shares technical learnings across product categories and collaborates with Field Quality to compare laboratory results with warranty and field performance data. The engineer recommends alternative validation methods, helps develop new test machines, maintains existing equipment, adapts test methodologies to new products and risks, and creates test methods that produce quantifiable data for engineering and product decisions. The position is based in Morgan Hill, California, with four days in the office.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in test development or data acquisition and analysis.
  • Equivalent experience in FEA, Quality Engineering, or Mechanical Design Engineering may be considered with appropriate technical skills.
  • Ability to balance established test methods with developing new approaches for emerging product risks.
  • Experience investigating complex failure modes and translating field observations into repeatable laboratory validation methods.
  • Strong technical judgment to assess risk, interpret test results, and recommend validation criteria and next steps.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis concepts using strain gauges, load cells, potentiometers, and accelerometers.
  • Familiarity with feedback control systems such as PLC logic and PID feedback loops.
  • Experience managing competing priorities among Design, Quality, and project timeline requirements.
  • Proficiency in fixture design and rapid prototyping, including CAD, GD&T, and basic manual machining tools such as mills and lathes.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to four times per year and maintain a flexible schedule to collaborate with teams in Europe and Asia.
