Test Engineer II

Mercury Systems•Andover, MA

About The Position

Mercury Systems is seeking a Module DVT Test Engineer II to lead electrical Design Verification Testing (DVT) for complex, multi-component electronic modules used in mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. The role focuses on circuit-level validation, characterization, and reliability assessment across integrated modules, ensuring electrical performance, robustness, and manufacturability from early development through production release. The engineer develops module-level DVT plans and methodologies, performs electrical validation and root-cause analysis, and leads module bring-up and transition-to-production activities. The role also provides complex production-debug support, improves test processes and tools, mentors junior engineers, and supports risk assessment and test strategy for new module architectures and technologies. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline and typically 3+ years of test engineering experience with hands-on circuit- or module-level hardware validation. The employee must have or obtain a government security clearance; clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. Access to export-controlled information is restricted to eligible individuals as described in the posting. Mercury Systems describes a casual, enjoyable workplace that supports employee learning, growth, communication, and collaboration. It offers comprehensive skills training and tuition reimbursement. Mercury Systems is an equal opportunity employer and provides an accommodation contact for applicants who need assistance during the application process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 3+ years of experience in test engineering, with hands-on involvement in circuit-level or module-level hardware validation.
  • Experience with electronic components, schematics, power topologies, digital and analog circuits, and module-level architectures.
  • Experience with common and advanced laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and signal generators.
  • Experience creating DVT plans, test documentation, and characterization reports.
  • Debugging skills, including the ability to isolate component-level issues and trace faults through interconnected circuits.
  • Must have or obtain a government security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing DVT, electrical validation, or characterization of complex electronic modules or embedded hardware.
  • Familiarity with electrical bring-up, failure analysis, and debugging power delivery, signal integrity, timing, high-speed interfaces, and analog subsystems.
  • Experience supporting product transfer from engineering to high-mix/low-volume production environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical-test scripting or automation tools such as Python or LabVIEW.
  • Understanding of manufacturing test processes, yield analysis, and component-level quality metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux environments, including command-line navigation, system diagnostics, and log analysis in a test or engineering context.
  • Experience with reliability testing such as ESS, HALT/HASS, or component-level qualification methods.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards relevant to module-level design, such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and DO-160.
  • Experience mentoring, guiding, or leading junior engineers.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, including collaboration across electrical design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop module-level DVT plans, test procedures, and characterization methodologies based on electrical requirements, schematics, and design specifications.
  • Perform circuit-level DVT across module components, including power circuits, high-speed interfaces, digital and analog subsystems, memory, and supporting logic.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for electrical failures in collaboration with hardware design, PCB layout, manufacturing, firmware, and reliability engineering teams.
  • Execute module-level electrical validation, including parametric testing, margin analysis, stress testing, and interface compliance verification.
  • Lead module bring-up and support transition of new modules from development to production, including documentation, workflow definition, and production training.
  • Provide escalation support for complex module-level production-test debugging, including component-level isolation, failure characterization, and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Improve and maintain DVT test processes, fixtures, automation scripts, and lab methodologies to improve accuracy, coverage, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in electrical test fundamentals, module-level validation techniques, and structured debugging practices.
  • Support risk assessment and test strategy development for new module architectures, components, and technology introductions.

Benefits
