Summary: The Test Engineer I will provide comprehensive support to the Defense Health Agency Test Branch, ensuring all developmental testing and evaluation requirements are met. This role involves conducting environmental and performance verification testing, competitive analysis, and participating in Integrated Product Team (IPT) test and evaluation strategies. The Test Engineer will also support the maintenance, improvement, and operation of the government-furnished test facility. This position is a surge position. It will be funded through Feb 11th, 2028, with the possibility to extend or close at that time.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Experience with MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards.
US Citizens only.
Confidential/Tier III clearance or higher, or ability to receive one.
Ability to travel - occasional travel may be required to support testing at different locations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in medical device testing.
Familiarity with military operational environments.
Previous experience with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Programming experience with tools such as Python, R, and VBA.

Responsibilities

Conduct standard and non-standard MIL-STD-810 environmental testing (e.g., storage temperature, operational temperature, humidity, vibration, salt fog, altitude, shock testing).
Evaluate the survivability of medical equipment in military environments.
Document test and evaluation results for program decisions.
Assess medical products or prototypes against specific performance specifications.
Perform final quality control testing in the last phase of the production line.
Document areas of noncompliance.
Conduct comparison testing of candidate medical devices.
Evaluate devices’ ability to operate in military environments, focusing on factors such as temperature, ruggedness, and weight.
Program tools for and perform data analysis.
Provide evidence and data to support procurement decisions.
Develop test and evaluation strategies for products under development.
Collaborate with IPT members to ensure comprehensive testing and evaluation.
Perform and/or coordinate repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, and refurbishment of the test facility.
Ensure the test facility is operational and meets all testing requirements.
The role involves working in a test facility environment.
May require handling and testing of various medical devices.
