In this role as a Test Engineer I, you will provide technical laboratory support and perform testing in assigned disciplines to meet internal and external customer requests for metallic and non-metallic materials. You will be responsible for collaborating with design engineers, manufacturing engineers and technicians, site quality leaders, vendors, suppliers, and/or external customers to create and execute test plans, develop new test capabilities, as well as maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces to comply with regulatory and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, with general understanding of laboratory safety and quality
  • Knowledge of basic materials testing, such as mechanical, metallurgical, or chemical
  • Experience or ability to read engineering specifications or drawings
  • Experience or ability to write work instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in one or more materials testing or analytical techniques, including wet chem, ICP, FTIR, tensile testing, hardness testing, metallography, gravimetric analysis, or viscosity testing
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Quality Systems or regulatory requirements such as AS9100, ISO17025, or Nadcap AC7101 or AC7108
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and proactively develop solutions to move work forward
  • Experience interfacing with customers to understand their needs and ability to execute to their desired timelines
  • Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and many jobs are being worked at the same time

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, vendors, and external suppliers (as needed) to develop and execute test plans based on internal and external customer requests in assigned technical disciplines, including mechanical testing.
  • Develop new testing capabilities as necessary to meet requester needs, including identification of equipment, resources, writing procedures, and ensuring compliance to quality system requirements
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces to comply with all regulatory and quality requirements, including performing 5S activities, inventory management for consumables, and receiving/shipping of goods.
