Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Test Engineer for Heath, Ohio (35 minutes East of Columbus, Ohio) to conduct development and overhaul of re-design strategies, that effect both hardware and software, for test equipment used in the mechanical and electronics testing of U.S. Strategic Deterrence Systems for the U.S. Air Force Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Guidance Systems, U.S. Air Force & U.S. Navy Guidance Systems, and other military programs. Requirements

  • Ability to get a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Secret clearance post-start is required.
  • 1+ year of related experience.
  • Manufacturing, production, or electrical / instrumentation engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • test plan(s) or test procedure(s)
  • Test software development and/or support experience using LabVIEW and/or Microsoft Visual Studio, or other comparable programming languages
  • Laboratory testing, data analysis, instrumentation, system integration, or manufacturing – specifically Assembly, Integration & Test, experience.
  • Government or DoD program experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support a project management-based gated process using the phase-gate process.
  • Assist in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods.
  • Develop test procedures and the instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform each test and minimize risk.
  • Design component and sub-assembly level hardware or software and use analytical tools to verify design.
  • Assist in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware.
  • Identify solutions to basic problems and support the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools.
  • Participate in evaluating test performance data for accuracy, quality, or fidelity.
  • Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data and prepare test reports for review prior to delivery to customer.
  • Support development of test debrief material.
  • Collaborate with program management, design authority engineering groups, operations, and government customer counterparts.
  • As assemblies, instruments, cables, and interfaces are replaced due to obsolescence, additional engineering responsibilities will include creating or revising and reviewing drawings and documents and conducting test and qualification of the overhauled test equipment.
