About The Position

Canvas is seeking qualified candidates to support the 780th Test Squadron on the TMAS II contract at Eglin AFB in Florida. The 780th Test Squadron is the Air Force's developmental test agency for air-to-air, air-to-surface, direct-fire, and advanced munitions. The candidate should have a working knowledge of airborne weapon systems; USAF, USN, or Marines fighter/bomber tactics and or airborne weapons employment. Prior experience in developmental weapons, and/or operational testing is highly desired. Aircrew experience is highly desired. Duties: Establishes standards for test documentation and technical reporting. Provides technical review of test directives, methods of test, data packages, letter reports, and technical reports. Present test strategy, objectives, and procedures to unit leaders at Safety Review Boards and Test Approval Boards. Provides technical management and accomplishes engineering duties related to the test and evaluation of major programs to include development tests, engineering evaluation tests, operational evaluation tests, and joint T&E programs on air-to-air/air-to-surface weapons. Develop test planning documentation for an emerging weapon program. Provides a range of technical and administrative support to the Flight Chief Represents the Squadron and AFTC at conferences and with other commands, HQ USAF, HQ USA, HQ USN, OSD, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), foreign nations, or industry on matters pertaining to the T&E of conventional weapons systems and their compatibility with various airborne, seaborne, or ground systems. Forecast test assets and range requirements. Integrate with program offices and prime contractors. Brief and debrief executing aircrew on mission execution and requirements. Act a Test Conductor during Test mission execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3 - 10 years of relevant experience; Years of experience may be substituted for education requirement, per customer approval.
  • Active Secret clearance with eligibility for Special Access Programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders and resolve competing test resource requirements.
  • Self-Motivated to learn new systems under test and be proactive to meet program requirements and take responsibility for identifying, organizing, coordinating, executing necessary tasks leading to the successful accomplishment of assigned duties.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Must have strong communication skills and possess some technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret security clearance with eligibility for Special Access Programs.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for most positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in DoD weapons acquisition process.
  • Flight test or Aircrew flight experience with military fighter/ Bomber aircraft.
  • Test Conductor experience with military systems.
  • Experience with USAF and USN fighter/bomber/attack Test, operations and weapon systems.
  • Test Pilot School graduate or Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) graduate desired.
