As a Test Engineer at Lam, you will design and implement efficient testing methods for product development and manufacturing, improving quality and reducing cycle time. You will perform diagnostic tests, design test features and equipment, and create detailed specifications for new products. Your strategic planning of labor, schedules, and equipment ensures effective and efficient testing operations. Join us in shaping the future of precision and reliability at Lam. The Pilot Test Engineer develops and deploys manufacturing process documentation, creates and updates visual instructions in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in accordance with engineering specifications, and develops and implements revised testing strategies to optimize cycle time and labor hours. Test Engineers (TEs) develop and deploy hardware and software using scripting languages to enable automated testing and characterization of complex electromechanical assemblies. TEs also design and deploy test fixtures to enable testing and characterization. In this role, scripting of existing test methods in Lam’s proprietary testing language or in Python will be the primary focus. Responsibilities include translating manual test procedures (used during the development process) into scripts that can be run in an automated environment to enable the transition into the HVM factory; developing strategies and methods to determine which tests are appropriate for automation; and developing and deploying test methods that can be moved upstream into the manufacturing process to occur during assembly or in parallel with the assembly process. Responsible for testing and validating new state-of-the-art products as they transition from the design phase to high‑volume manufacturing. Interfaces with design and product teams on upcoming products through Design Reviews and CFTs. Evaluates the impact on testing and provides feedback on Design for Manufacturability and Test. Owns and drives the customer‑driven test schedule for assigned new products. Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes test procedures for new products. Designs, develops, and implements cost‑effective methods for testing systems and equipment for all phases of a product. Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for automated test development and deployment. Troubleshoots and resolves issues through innovative, “out‑of‑the‑box” thinking in addition to structured problem solving. Performs and assesses DFMA and pFMEA on new products.
