About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring an individual contributor for its Special Test Equipment organization in Palmdale, California. The position may be filled at the Test Conductor or Principal Test Conductor level based on qualifications. The role plans, schedules, and conducts test events in a production environment, leading technicians and engineers during test execution. It works with Responsible Engineers and System Test Engineers to develop test procedures and perform test-article operations, and serves as a test subject matter expert in planning, documentation, review, and engineering meetings. The position also supports post-test data processing and analysis, provides first-line engineering support for systems under test, and directs maintenance personnel performing maintenance, repairs, and modifications. It analyzes and interprets test data, recommends alternative means of compliance to engineering and leadership when needed, and supports the development and execution of test objectives. The role is based in Palmdale, CA, requires travel 10% of the time, and may involve multiple shifts and schedules, including weekday and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance may be available.

Requirements

For Test Conductor: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of related professional or military experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years of related experience; or a Master of Science degree and 0 years of related experience.
For Principal Test Conductor: High school diploma and 9 years of related professional or military experience; or a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; or a master's degree and 3 years of related experience; or a Ph.D. and 1 year of related experience.
Experience in a system test and/or aircraft test or operational environment.
Familiarity with blueprints, engineering guidance, and data collection.
Familiarity with special test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
Active U.S. Government Secret clearance, with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Ability to work multiple shifts when required, including 4x10 Monday–Thursday first or second shift and 3x10 Friday–Sunday first or second shift.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Test Engineer that includes test planning, execution, and operations.
Experience with Test Work Sheets, Prep Items, and other test work documents.
Experience with MES, FMT, or other documentation systems.
Active Program clearance.
Active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, and conduct test events.
Lead technicians and engineers during test execution.
Author work authorizations, including TWS and Prep Items, for testing and troubleshooting.
Work with Responsible Engineers and System Test Engineers to develop test procedures and conduct test-article operations in a production environment.
Attend meetings as a test subject matter expert, including TRRs, test planning, test documentation preparation, and engineering briefs and debriefs.
Lead the team through test execution.
Support post-test data processing and analysis as needed to meet test objectives.
Provide first-line engineering support for maintenance, repairs, and modifications to systems under test.
Supervise and direct maintenance personnel performing maintenance, repairs, and modifications to systems under test.
Analyze and interpret test data, recommend alternative means of compliance to engineering and leadership as needed, and support development and execution of test objectives.
