About The Position

Pearson VUE is the global leader in computer-based testing and is now hiring for a Test Center Manager to join their team in Fairfield, CA. This role is an entry-level position where you will manage a small team of Test Administrators, handle site staffing, hiring, retention, conflict resolution, and scheduling. You will also train, develop, and coach staff, and be the first point of contact for facility issues. A significant portion of your daily tasks will involve performing Test Administrator responsibilities, including checking in examinees, verifying identification, monitoring testing, maintaining a secure environment, and addressing technical issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience preferred.
  • One year supervision experience in customer service preferred.
  • Team leading and training skills, and exposure to a testing environment are strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are a must.
  • Must be flexible in work hours and days.
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a timely and efficient manner and handle a reasonable amount of stress.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows applications, Internet, and email.
  • Ability to operate a computer and telephone.
  • Must be able to work in a quiet, focused environment and hear words spoken in soft voices.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs on occasion.
  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time while escorting candidates back and forth to the testing room.
  • Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift from a stooped position.
  • Must be able to see small details at a distance.
  • Ability to see names clearly on ID cards and the computer screen.
  • Experience proctoring or invigilating exams is highly preferred.
  • Beginner to intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and also escort candidates to and from testing room.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and lift up to 20 lbs. with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be comfortable in a quiet testing environment, hear soft voices and see details from a distance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of Test Administrator employees.
  • Handle site staffing, hiring, retention, conflict resolution, and scheduling.
  • Train, develop, and coach staff.
  • Serve as the first contact for facility issues.
  • Perform Test Administrator duties including arriving on time for shifts, site opening and closing procedures, checking in examinees, verifying identification, explaining the exam process, monitoring examinees, maintaining a secure testing environment, communicating with technical support, adhering to company policies, and maintaining a professional and clean testing center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
