About The Position

CapTech is seeking a mid-level Test Automation Engineer to join their Quality Engineering practice. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining automated test suites for client engagements across web, mobile, and API-driven systems. The engineer will be an embedded member of cross-functional delivery teams, collaborating with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to integrate quality into the software delivery lifecycle. As a consulting role, adaptability and client communication are as crucial as technical expertise, with the ability to assess existing testing landscapes and recommend pragmatic automation approaches. The position requires comfort in joining engagements mid-stream and delivering value within project timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three to six years of professional experience in software quality engineering, with at least two years focused on test automation.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented or scripting language used for automation, such as Java, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, or C#.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern UI automation tool such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Working knowledge of API testing, including REST services, authentication patterns, and contract or schema validation.
  • Experience integrating automated suites into a CI/CD pipeline and working comfortably with Git-based version control.
  • Solid understanding of agile delivery, the software development lifecycle, and defect management workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain testing decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience.
  • Experience with mobile automation using Appium, XCUITest, or Espresso.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerized test execution with Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with accessibility testing standards such as WCAG 2.1, or with security testing fundamentals.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer or a cloud provider associate certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated functional, regression, and integration test suites for web, mobile, and API layers.
  • Build and extend reusable test frameworks using page object, data-driven, and behavior-driven patterns.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate acceptance criteria into test scenarios.
  • Triage failing tests, isolate root causes, and distinguish product defects from test instability or environment issues.
  • Contribute to performance, accessibility, and security testing efforts.
  • Define and report quality metrics to technical teams and client leadership.
  • Mentor junior engineers and client team members on automation practices, code review standards, and test design.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, estimation, and sprint planning, advocating for testability.
