About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Test and Inspection Embedded Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) and avionics Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Software Engineering teams in Hazelwood, MO. This role supports our commercial and military platforms. The position involves developing, integrating, bug resolving, and testing C++/C# software for controlling NDI and ATE electrical equipment, updating User Interfaces (UI's), and developing functional and unit tests. The NDI equipment includes robotics, LIDAR, ultrasound, and electrical test equipment. The ATE equipment includes digital, analog, Radio Frequency (RF) - Wifi and Cellular, communication busses, power, and display test equipment. The ATE role also supports updates to the test executive/sequence software. Additionally, candidates will be responsible for the maintenance and setup of DevSecOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Windows runners in GitLab. The general responsibilities of an Embedded SW engineer include designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software for embedded devices and systems, ensuring compliance with industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards. This includes reviewing and translating customer requirements, building and writing code for specialized hardware, integrating software with hardware, analyzing and improving system efficiency and stability, and implementing current and emerging technologies. The role also involves advising on software and hardware integration, tracking team performance, and performing project management functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 5+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or C#
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development

  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C++, C#, C, Assembly, Ladder Logic, Numerical Control (NC) Programming, Matlab)
  • Knowledge of communications, networking, and protocols (e.g., Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Extensible Mark-up Language (XML), Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), and/or ARINC429 or MS1553)
  • Knowledge of general and real-time software development and testing tools, including the capability and usage of real-time tools such as test instrumentation, robotics systems, and inspection systems
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle

  • Supports the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into ATE and NDI devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards

  • Supports implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies
  • Supports tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards
  • Assists with performing embedded software project management functions
  • Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
