About The Position

The Boeing Company's Test and Evaluation (BT&E) division is seeking a Test and Evaluation Laboratory Technician to support lab operations and a hardware engineering team in Long Beach, CA. This role is crucial for maintaining and operating test equipment, supporting hardware and software integration, and ensuring the successful execution of test procedures for significant aerospace programs like the C-17. The technician will collaborate with engineers to fabricate, assemble, and troubleshoot test systems and components, coordinate lab activities, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of test methodologies. This position offers a chance to work on advanced aerospace projects in a collaborative and innovative setting. The team is hiring for both Associate and Mid-Level Laboratory Technicians.

Requirements

Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
1+ years of electronic/electrical experience in machine tool maintenance, industrial electronic and/or electrical maintenance, or military electronic/electrical system maintenance.
1+ years of experience working with wiring diagrams and/or functional schematics.
1+ years of experience constructing wire harnesses and panels by cutting, sorting, color-coding, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials.

Nice To Haves

3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (for Level 3).
Familiarity with electrical data bus interface standards (e.g., Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429).
Knowledge of MIL-STD connectors such as D38999.
Proven ability to assemble, rework, and troubleshoot small mechanical and electrical assemblies including the use of oscilloscope, multimeters, analog and digital designs.
Understanding of test procedure development and execution.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze test data.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and under general direction.
Comfortable working in a dynamic, iterative R&D environment where requirements and priorities may shift rapidly.

Responsibilities

Support activities to plan, conduct, and document tests on hardware, systems, components, and materials in support of avionics and lab hardware development.
Design, fabricate, build, and analyze test systems, materials, components, software, and methodologies.
Fabricate wire harnesses per drawing standards to meet aircraft specifications.
Provide technical support for project management, including test plans or proposals, cost and schedule estimates, and instrumentation and test condition definitions.
Guide test mechanics and electricians, and perform metrology and calibration certification services.
Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory and test-related problems.
Conduct tests per plan and process data; document and communicate test plans and results.
Interface with engineers, peers, group leaders, internal and external suppliers, and laboratory users for direction, collaboration, approval, and identifying requirements to resolve design, manufacturing, and related process problems.
Coordinate system integration, setup, checkout, and teardown activities for test operations per work orders.
Maintain inventory of consumables (cleaning supplies, wires, connectors, adhesives, tubing, Dremel bits, etc.).
Organize lab tools and parts using 5S or similar principles to ensure a clean, FOD-free, and efficient workspace.
