About The Position

This position is an intern level in the test technician job family. Under close supervision, learns how to perform routine test technician duties in support of the Test & Activation Department. Learns to work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions of a simple nature. Learns how to perform routine operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment to ensure conformance with final product specifications. Learns how to utilize routine manufacturing test or diagnostic equipment specific to the product. Assists with limited design activities in support of test equipment/procedures development. Normally assigned to activities such as test, system checkouts, quality control or the like. Supports Test Specialist with conduct of defined tests and collects data as assigned. Assists Test Specialist with diagnostic checks and isolates malfunctions down to the component level.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must have an ability to work in a shipyard environment.
  • Must be able to maintain proficiency in shipboard engineering plant terminology and operations.
  • Must be able to retain knowledge of industrial or marine ancillary machinery systems installation and operation.
  • 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen.
  • Willing to submit to a background check.
