About The Position

Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-performance cutting tool solutions serving manufacturers across a wide range of industries. They are seeking a technically driven Applications Specialist to support customers throughout Florida by providing machining expertise, application support, and business development. This position blends technical problem-solving with customer relationship management. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with manufacturers to improve machining processes, recommend tooling solutions, and help customers maximize productivity and performance.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in machining, manufacturing, tooling, or industrial sales.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and metal cutting applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining challenges and recommend practical tooling solutions.
  • Working knowledge of milling, turning, grooving, drilling, and related machining operations.
  • Understanding of speeds, feeds, tool geometry, and machining parameters.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and support projects from concept through production.
  • Proven ability to develop new business while maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently across a multi-county territory.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with machinists, engineers, manufacturing leaders, and purchasing professionals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using CRM software and maintaining detailed customer records.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential customer information.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with carbide cutting tools, indexable tooling, or precision machining products preferred.
  • Experience supporting job shops, production machining, or OEM manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience with custom or engineered tooling solutions is considered a plus.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturing customers, distributor partners, and key decision makers throughout the assigned territory.
  • Evaluate customer machining operations and recommend tooling solutions that improve efficiency, tool life, cycle times, and overall productivity.
  • Identify new business opportunities while growing existing customer accounts through a consultative, value-driven sales approach.
  • Conduct on-site application reviews, process evaluations, and product demonstrations at customer facilities.
  • Provide technical support related to milling, turning, grooving, drilling, and other metal cutting applications.
  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate tooling, machining strategies, cutting parameters, and process improvements.
  • Partner with distributor sales teams through joint customer visits, training sessions, and territory development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, customer service, and inside sales teams to develop quotations and resolve technical questions.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, and project status within the CRM system.
  • Attend industry trade shows, technical seminars, and internal training programs to remain current on manufacturing technologies and product offerings.
  • Share competitive intelligence, market trends, and customer feedback with internal leadership to support future product and business initiatives.
  • Effectively manage travel schedules, expense reporting, and territory planning.
