About The Position

The Territory Manager is responsible for maximizing efficiencies for all resources inside of their assigned territory within their region including employees, equipment and services.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma and previous experience related to grain, feed, fertilizer, chemicals and/or farms supplies.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the cooperative.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Haz-Mat and Tanker Endorsements and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Inspector’s and Weigher’s license and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Pesticide Applicator License 1A and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.
  • Must have the ability to make definitive decisions and clearly communicate those to staff and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of all employees within the assigned territory
  • Ensuring seasonal facilities are well maintained, taken care of, and staffed during seasonal operations.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Adherence to safety policies and providing safety leadership.
  • Adhering to and carrying out central dispatching of agronomy products and services.
  • Setting and communicating hours of operation for each location under their purview.
  • Coordinating the most efficient use of people and equipment within their territory, region and in coordination with other territory managers.
  • Maintaining clean and attractive workplaces.
  • Reporting opportunities for increased sales and improved efficiencies in operations of the territory.
  • Keeping grain and all inventory items in good condition.
  • Following accounting procedures: inventory of merchandise, daily cash controls, and all other accounting functions that are necessary to maintain an adequate set of records.
  • Make farm calls as needed to promote company’s products, services and values.
  • Promoting company and territory employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services.
  • Ensuring all inventory items are properly accounted for in a timely manner.
  • Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork.
  • Preventative maintenance on all rolling stock and fixed assets.
  • Adhering to cooperative credit policy.
  • Securing facilities and equipment when closing.
  • Manages operating expenses and improves key performance indicators and metrics
  • Ensures effective use of staff overtime and effective use of staff
  • Manages repairs and maintenance expenses to drive decreases through effective preventative maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates labor shortages and excesses to Regional Manager and other Territory Managers.
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed.
