About The Position

Accountable is a virtual support program for substance use recovery and sobriety, matching members with certified peer recovery coaches and utilizing daily breathalyzer monitoring, remote drug testing, and recovery groups. The company was founded by individuals in recovery and has served over 10,000 members, with expanding coverage across payer segments. This role is crucial for establishing Accountable's presence in a specific territory, building trust with clinicians, discharge planners, and community partners to drive referrals.

Requirements

  • Live in the territory.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • 2+ years of outside sales, community outreach, admissions, or business development experience.
  • Ability to speak the language of the treatment world (detox, residential, PHP, IOP, outpatient, MAT, sober living) and understand where recovery support fits.
  • Understanding of how people pay for and access care (private pay, commercial insurance, Medicare).
  • Proven experience with cold outreach, list building, and turning cold contacts into relationships.
  • Experience carrying a sales number and meeting targets.
  • Ability to speak credibly with both clinical directors and parents.
  • Disciplined about CRM usage with same-day logging.

  • Existing relationships with treatment providers or clinicians in the territory.
  • Personal or family recovery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and work a territory plan covering the market's referral sources.
  • Be in the field 4–5 days a week, conducting 15–20 meetings per week once ramped.
  • Sell consultatively, understanding referrer needs before pitching and being willing to state when Accountable is not a fit.
  • Call on treatment providers including residential programs, detoxes, PHP/IOPs, sober livings, and their internal staff (discharge planners, case managers, alumni coordinators).
  • Call on clinical providers such as therapists, addiction medicine and psychiatry practices, primary care, and hospital social workers.
  • Call on community partners including drug courts, interventionists, DUI and family law attorneys, EAPs, and recovery community organizations.
  • Run in-services and lunch-and-learns.
  • Attend coalition meetings, recovery events, and conferences relevant to the market.
  • Activate new accounts and maintain existing ones, aiming for at least quarterly referrals from each active account.
  • Log all activity in the CRM on the same day.
  • Work within Accountable's compliance standards in all referral relationships.
