About The Position

Waste Connections is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Account Manager to join our team in Elkhart, IN. This is a business-to-business (B2B) role centered on managing and growing an existing portfolio of commercial customers, while identifying opportunities to expand services. We’re looking for someone who excels at building long-term relationships, delivering tailored solutions, and driving customer satisfaction in a fast-paced industry.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of account management, B2B sales, or customer-facing experience preferred
  • Experience in waste management, industrial services, or route-based operations is a strong plus
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a book of business and prioritize multiple customer needs
  • Experience with contract management, renewals, and upselling services
  • Proficient in CRM tools
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Manage and retain a portfolio of commercial waste and recycling customers
  • Build strong relationships with key client contacts to ensure high levels of satisfaction and service delivery
  • Identify opportunities for account growth, service upgrades, and cross-selling additional solutions
  • Conduct regular account reviews and site visits to understand customer needs and optimize service solutions
  • Prepare customized proposals and service recommendations using our CRM tool (ARES)
  • Track contract expiration dates and proactively manage renewals and pricing adjustments
  • Partner with internal operations and customer service teams to quickly resolve issues and ensure seamless service
  • Analyze client waste streams to recommend cost-effective and sustainable solutions, including recycling options
  • Maintain accurate account records, activity tracking, and pipeline management within CRM
  • Support new business efforts within assigned accounts and through referrals as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
