About The Position

Terrain Parks is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on the mountain. Snow park employees are hosts, guides, and information centers. The Supervisor will assist the Terrain Parks Manager in overseeing all activities related to the snow parks and coordinate daily design, construction, and maintenance of the various terrain features. The Supervisor and their staff will evaluate parks and features before opening to ensure a safe and fun environment for our guests.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Terrain Parks.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely and efficiently operate a Snowcat.
  • Effective and efficient leadership skills.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to read and write legibly and use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
  • Advanced skiing or boarding ability.
  • Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.
  • Safe operation of a snowmobile in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition as this position requires skiing/boarding, hiking, shoveling, lifting and carrying.
  • Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions.
  • Safety and risk oriented.
  • Requires the skills of a host: approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.
  • Must be 19 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Promote teamwork, trust, and respect.

  • Maintain an efficient snow park operation.
  • Planning: Schedule work accordingly, set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner, foresee problems and opportunities.
  • Organizing: Utilize resources, delegate, good time management.
  • Operate within budget guidelines.
  • Follow through with mountain hill safety procedures under the direction of the Mountain Operations Manager.
  • Prepare staff for inspections and interviews from our insurance company.
  • Ensure snow parks are operational and operating personnel are equipped and fit to perform their duties.
  • Report any potential problems to the Mountain Operations Manager.
  • Assist in collecting, reviewing, and filing of daily snow park work logs.
  • Provide ongoing training.
  • Assist with accident investigations.
  • Documentation of training and safety meetings.
  • Enforcement of safety rules.
  • Attend monthly safety committee meetings.
  • Assist with the documentation of personnel files: training, binding and equipment checks, knee screenings, etc.
  • Assist with revisions and additions to departmental manuals.
  • Daily employee appearance inspections.
  • Communication with other departments.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to delivering excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a courteous manner and answering questions professionally.
  • Working knowledge of emergency plan.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and professional workstations.
  • Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
  • Recognize and correct any safety hazards within the snow park department.
  • Shoveling snow, sometimes deep, heavy wet snow weighing more than 50 lbs. per shovel full. Heavy and awkward lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Walking and working on uneven ground, deep powder, icy and wet surfaces.
  • Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions.
  • Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.
