About The Position

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining Woodward Mt Bachelor's terrain parks, working closely with the Terrain Park Grooming Supervisor, Terrain Park Manager, and Terrain Park Day Crew Supervisor. The goal is to implement strategies that maximize efficiency and encourage continuous improvement in terrain park construction, maintenance, and employee growth. The position emphasizes delivering memorable experiences and fostering a fun, inspiring culture where employees are passionate about mountain culture, have a positive attitude, are problem solvers, and work as a team.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent education.
  • 3 to 4 seasons of terrain park snow cat operations with expert cat skill level.
  • Current and valid Driver’s License.
  • Advanced Skiing or snowboarding ability.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to shovel snow.
  • Ability to walk on steep and uneven surfaces.

  • Ability to fix and rebuild hydraulic hoses.
  • Shows strong knowledge of winch cat operations.
  • Knowledge of all Zaugg functions.
  • Can cut and maintain features in peace parks.
  • Can maintain transitions in all parks and in 13’ pipe.

Responsibilities

  • Groom an entire terrain park from start to finish.
  • Understand and implement grooming patterns for different park layouts and features.
  • Shape, reset, or dig out terrain park features efficiently in all snow conditions.
  • Understand specific building concepts for terrain park features.
  • Complete a large amount of work within an 8-hour shift.
  • Build a wide variety of terrain park features from a blank canvas, including small, medium, and large parks, jumps, and jibs.
  • Build and maintain all Peace Park features.
  • Master all size park rebuilds and build any size of park from start to finish.
  • Set various features by hand or alone with a snowcat.
  • Master the controls of various models of Pistenbully and Prinoth park cats.
  • Remove various implements a cat may use for terrain park construction and maintenance, including the blade, the tiller, and the Zaugg.
  • Carry diverse types of terrain park features on the blade (boxes, rails, walls, signs, shacks).
  • Pick up, reset, operate, and lay out snowmaking guns and hoses.
  • Perform general grooming machine maintenance (oil, hydro fluid, coolant, tracks, belts, fuses, wipers, hoses).
  • Fix and rebuild hydraulic hoses.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of winch cat operations.
  • Understand and build landings of all sizes, including understanding grade.
  • Utilize all Zaugg functions.
  • Cut and maintain features in peace parks.
  • Maintain transitions in all parks and in 13’ pipe.
  • Ensure grooming logs are filled out and dated at the end of each shift.
  • Handle a larger workload than a level 2 operator.
  • Utilize advanced perception and skill set with snow cat blade and tiller functions.
  • Maintain 100 hours of training time with lower-level operators.
  • Maintain 100 hours of training with higher-level operators.
  • Accountable for on-hill actions, including the safe build and grooming of terrain park features nightly, and safe operation of the snow cat.
  • Converse daily on park matters with ski patrol, park manager, park grooming staff, and grooming staff.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and communicate in advance on timelines.
  • Meet timelines set out by supervisors/manager.
  • Build, groom, and maintain all terrain park features in all types of snow.
  • Understand the difference between bad and good jump to landing transitions and safe and unsafe features.
