About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring safe and environmentally conscious operations at the terminal. The Terminal Operator will perform scheduled tasks efficiently, monitor and record system data, conduct quality control sampling, and manage the preparation of shipments and inventory. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of terminal operations, product handling, and equipment maintenance. The operator will also be on-call for repair and troubleshooting assistance.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide leadership in safety and environmental consciousness.
  • Proficiency in wearing and utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Skill in reporting safety and environmental concerns to supervisors.
  • Ability to perform tasks safely and efficiently according to company guidelines.
  • Competence in monitoring and recording fuel consumption and controlled temperatures.
  • Ability to compare previous readings and report deviations.
  • Skill in performing daily quality control sampling and testing.
  • Experience in preparing shipments and bills of lading.
  • Proficiency in blender operations.
  • Ability to oversee the receipt and shipment of materials, ensuring proper count, weight, and identification.
  • Accuracy in timely input and maintenance of daily tank sheets.
  • Ability to advise supervisors on inventory status and maintenance items.
  • Willingness to gain a base knowledge of all products handled, including storage and shipping temperature ranges, compatibility, and safety/environmental considerations.
  • Willingness to gain an understanding of the physical operation of the terminal.
  • Ability to ensure equipment, machinery, and furnishings are maintained in an organized, safe, and operable condition.
  • Ability to work closely with operations personnel and department managers.
  • Ability to conduct and/or delegate maintenance inspections.
  • Willingness to accept an "on call" role for repair and troubleshooting assistance.

  • Advanced maintenance and repair of pumps and valves.
  • Understanding of valve and material flow patterns in steam heating and hot oil heating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in safe and environmentally conscious work practices, including proper PPE usage and reporting of concerns.
  • Perform scheduled tasks safely and efficiently, adhering to Jebro and Knife River guidelines.
  • Monitor and record fuel consumption and heating system temperatures, reporting deviations.
  • Conduct daily quality control sampling and testing as needed.
  • Prepare shipments, bills of lading, and manage blender operations.
  • Oversee the receipt and shipment of materials, ensuring accuracy in count, weight, and identification.
  • Maintain accuracy and timely input of daily tank sheets for received materials.
  • Advise supervisors on inventory status (dead, obsolete, shortages) and maintenance items.
  • Develop a base knowledge of all products handled, including storage/shipping temperatures, compatibility, and safety/environmental considerations.
  • Gain an understanding of the terminal's physical operations, including tanks, pumps, blending equipment, and heating systems.
  • Ensure equipment, machinery, and furnishings are maintained in an organized, safe, and operable condition.
  • Collaborate with operations personnel and managers to ensure maintenance and repairs align with guidelines.
  • Conduct or delegate maintenance inspections and provide summary recommendations.
  • Accept an on-call role for repair and troubleshooting assistance at all terminals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
