About The Position

The Terminal Operator moves product in and out of the terminal in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner. This role involves receiving product, including unloading ships and coordinating truck deliveries. The operator will dispatch trucks to customers, load customer trucks, and arrange for product delivery. They will utilize computers programmed to run equipment for loading trucks and may need to contact outside carriers for deliveries. Generating bills of lading and processing invoices using the SAP billing system are key tasks. The operator will also assist the Terminal Manager with daily office activities and special projects, monitor product load-out, and may be required to be on call for customer issues outside of normal operating hours and on weekends. Daily reconciliation of shipping reports is also a responsibility. The role includes maintaining and repairing equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance, which involves troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and re-assembling equipment using hand tools. Minor rail car repairs may also be required. The operator must ensure the terminal complies with safety and environmental standards and maintain the facility's appearance through general cleanliness, landscaping, and janitorial duties, as all employees are responsible for property maintenance.

Requirements

  • Requires a self-motivated, safety-oriented person that can work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Will use computers that are programmed to run equipment to load trucks.
  • Must have background working on equipment to make repairs. (Troubleshooting equipment, disassemble, repair, re-assembly of equipment)
  • Will be using hand tools to grease bearing, tighten drive belts and chains on equipment.
  • Requires a person that can work alone and self-motivated.
  • Working with vessel crew members which requires Homeland Security Clearance (TWIC)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of arc welding and cutting torch operation is very useful.
  • May be requested to work overtime during breakdown events or return to work during these events.

Responsibilities

  • Receive product including the unloading of ships, monitoring vessel unloading, and coordinating truck deliveries.

  • Assist the Terminal Manager with day-to-day office activities and other special projects.
  • Monitor the load out of product to customers.
  • May be required to be on call to address customer issues while the Self-Loading system is in operation after normal terminal operating hours and weekends.
  • Daily reconciliation of shipping reports.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance.
  • Perform minor rail car repairs to ensure proper unloading.
  • Practice and observe that terminal is in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Perform duties to ensure proper appearance of facility including general cleanliness, landscaping and janitorial duties.
