The Terminal Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of freight while adhering to safety and service standards. This role involves developing, managing, monitoring, and overseeing all aspects of terminal operations, including expenses, hiring, dismissals, annual performance appraisals, employee orientation and training, grievances, Occupational Health and Safety, WSIB, CNESST, security, freight movement, route planning, delivery schedules, customer complaints, payroll, equipment, and facility maintenance. The manager must ensure terminal compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and maintain operations in alignment with the company's Mission Statement, emphasizing customer service and contributing to Erb Transport Limited's profitability. Key decisions regarding terminal operations will be made by this role. Collaboration with department and division management is expected to streamline processes. The manager will also oversee terminal budgets and capital expenditures (CapEx), communicate with various dispatch teams and other terminal managers to resolve major issues, and recommend changes and identify problem areas by analyzing lanes, profitability, delivery schedules, and terminal costs. Developing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess shift and departmental performance, and implementing changes to gain efficiencies is also a key responsibility. Collaboration with the Sales department on new business ventures, providing advisory support for new projects, and overseeing the maintenance and operation of all equipment, including power units, trailers, and dock handling equipment, are also part of the role. The manager will manage the training and orientation of all employees, plan, monitor, and maintain employee schedules, including time off, vacations, and overtime, and provide coverage for employees as needed. Approving purchase orders within the maximum signing authority and directing them to Head Office for payment, investigating accidents and claims as necessary, and ensuring all supervisory and managerial staff foster a positive and respectful work environment are also key duties. The Terminal Manager will serve as a member of the Employee Representatives to Management committee and perform all other duties as required.
