About The Position

The Human Services Department is seeking a Tenure Track Faculty member to teach a full range of courses. This role involves preparing and delivering lectures, evaluating student work, developing course materials, and staying current with developments in the field. The faculty member will maintain student records, facilitate discussions, advise students on academic and career matters, and participate in curriculum development and revision. Additionally, they will administer and grade examinations, collaborate with colleagues, maintain office hours for student advising, select instructional materials, and serve on academic and administrative committees. The position may also involve teaching at partner high schools, observing adjunct instructors, and contributing to program development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work (MSW), Social Administration (MSSA) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
  • Minimum of 4 years’ full-time employment in a related field including 2-years full-time work experience in chemical dependency counseling
  • Licensed Social Worker
  • Valid State of Ohio license in social work
  • Teaching experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Logic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker and/or holds an Independent License in a related field
  • Demonstrated job experience and education in the field of Human Services
  • Community college teaching experience
  • Minimum of 4 years full-time employment in chemical dependency counseling

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline
  • Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments and papers
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in professional conferences
  • Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records
  • Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussions
  • As needed, advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues
  • Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content and course materials and methods of instruction
  • Compiles, administers and grades examinations
  • Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
  • Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
  • Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment
  • Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issues
  • Participates in campus and community events
  • May be assigned to teach courses on campus or at partner high schools, conduct adjunct instructor observations, and contribute to program development
