We are seeking a highly efficient Temporary Underwriter with active DE/FHA certifications to join our team. This role is specifically designed to focus on the high-volume clearing of conditions for previously underwritten loans. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in HUD and investor guidelines who can hit the ground running to ensure loan packages are audit-ready and compliant for the secondary market.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of current Mortgage Underwriting experience (Front-end and Condition Clearing).
  • Active DE and FHA Certification is mandatory.
  • Must be comfortable with Byte, DU, LP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and specific Investor guidelines.
  • Must be a self-starter with a "friendly and motivated" attitude. High moral ethics and the ability to use logic to document complex files are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent pace to meet company standards of 60 new files (or equivalent condition clearing volume) per month.
  • Heavily focus on the review and clearing of prior-to-close (PTC) and prior-to-funding (PTF) conditions on previously underwritten mortgage loan packages.
  • Verify and validate the accuracy and completeness of all documentation. Ensure every file meets the rigorous standards required by FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, DE, and individual investors.
  • Update and maintain precise loan data and documentation within the Loan Origination System (LOS) to ensure seamless transitions for Quality Control and Audit teams.
  • Perform a variety of tasks to ensure mortgage loan packages are fully eligible for sale into the secondary market.
