About The Position

The Metropolitan Airports Commission is seeking Temporary Snow Shovelers to join their Field Maintenance team. These positions are typically available from mid-October through mid-April and involve heavy manual labor to ensure smooth winter operations at the airport. Responsibilities include removing snow from various areas using snow removal equipment, washing equipment, general clean-up, and other assigned tasks. The role offers an hourly rate of $25.653 and is overtime eligible. Assigned bunk, meals, and paid rest breaks are provided during snow and ice control events. The application period closes on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to work outdoors under severe and varying weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including shoveling, lifting, and carrying for extended periods.
  • Ability to pass a criminal and employment background check.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and position up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination.
  • Must meet the MAC's standard of safe driving, with specific guidelines on moving violations and major violations within the past three years.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Snow removal experience using a variety of snow removal equipment.
  • Experience operating a lawn tractor with plow, broom, and blower attachments.
  • Experience using a walk-behind snow thrower.
  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping or parks maintenance, or commercial property maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy manual labor to remove snow from sidewalks, parking lots, emergency exits, field lights, and signs.
  • Use a variety of snow removal equipment.
  • Wash equipment.
  • Assist with general clean-up.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
