About The Position

This position involves completing physical laboring tasks throughout the mining operation. The work is performed in varying extremes with exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and adverse weather. Responsibilities include construction of wire fences, preparing ground for planting, planting trees and other vegetation, installation of silt fencing, rip rap and other erosion controls, application of mulch & fertilizer, and cutting grass. The schedule may require working a multi-shift rotation including weekend work. The role also involves operating farm tractors with attachments, forklifts, skid loaders, and hydromulch trucks. Compliance with all Company, State and Federal safety & environmental rules and regulations is mandatory.

Requirements

• Ability to complete moderate to heavy laboring that includes repetitive or sustained physical effort.
• Ability to perform continuous walking or standing on uneven terrain.
• Ability to climb vertical ladders.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact with other production personnel.
• Possess a valid driver’s license through the duration of employment.
• Meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider.

Responsibilities

• Complete physical laboring tasks throughout the mining operation.
• Construct wire fences utilizing hand shovel, posthole digger, post pounder and other fencing tools/equipment.
• Prepare the ground for planting and plant a variety of trees and other vegetation.
• Install silt fencing, rip rap and other erosion controls.
• Apply mulch & fertilizer.
• Cut grass with push mower and brush hog.
• Operate farm tractor with associated attachments.
• Operate forklifts, skid loaders and hydromulch truck.
• Comply with all Company, State and Federal safety & environmental rules and regulations.
