In this role, you will serve as Pontera’s payroll expert, responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing in Paylocity and for supporting employees with payroll-related questions. You will ensure payroll accuracy across exempt and non-exempt populations, maintain data integrity, and partner with employees and managers to deliver a smooth and exceptional payroll experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is confident owning payroll end-to-end with minimal oversight.

Requirements

  • Payroll processing experience for both exempt and non-exempt employees within the U.S.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Paylocity (minimum 1 year required).
  • Experience with HiBob as an HRIS is strongly preferred.
  • Strong math, data entry, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, consistently, within EST hours.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities in a part-time environment.
  • Familiarity with New York State payroll regulations is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort supporting employees via Slack.
  • Demonstrated dependability, confidentiality, and ownership of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing in Paylocity for assigned employee groups.
  • Validate timecards, including hours worked, overtime, variable pay, and PTO balances prior to payroll submission.
  • Process ad-hoc payroll adjustments (retro pay, corrections, garnishments, reimbursements, bonuses) with 100% accuracy.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to prevent errors that may impact pay, taxes, or benefits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all payroll compliance regulations.
  • Use Paylocity Payroll & Onboarding modules with at least 1 year of hands-on experience.
  • Run, analyze, and export payroll reports, including pre-payroll, tax liability, and deduction summaries.
  • Use Excel to organize, audit, and present payroll data clearly and accurately.
  • Ensure accurate syncing and data alignment between Paylocity and HiBob (preferred).
  • Serve as Pontera’s primary payroll point of contact, responding promptly and professionally to employee inquiries via Slack and email.
  • Provide guidance to employees on Paylocity self-service features (pay statements, tax forms, direct deposit updates).
  • Partner with managers to ensure timely timecard approvals and adherence to payroll policies.
  • Escalate complex issues to the HRBP, Accounting, or Paylocity Support as needed.
  • Meet all payroll deadlines with dependability and minimal supervision.
  • Manage sensitive data with discretion and professionalism at all times.
