About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a compassionate and dedicated CNA I to provide essential care and support to patients in a secure, structured environment. This role involves working alongside healthcare professionals to assist with patient care tasks, daily activities, and maintaining a clean environment. The position is temporary, lasting 11 months with a 31-day break, and renewal opportunities may be available. The pay rate is $20/hour with no benefits included. Applicants must pass a background check to qualify.

Requirements

• High School or General Educational Development diploma (GED) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of nursing methods and techniques in caring for medical, surgical and/or mentally ill patients.
• Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Support RNs, LPNs, and Health Care Technicians with patient care tasks.
• Obtain vital signs, weight, and height.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist patients with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, and repositioning.
• Safely transport patients as needed.
• Observe and report patient conditions to nursing staff.
• Collect and label specimens (blood, urine, feces, and sputum) within your scope of practice.
• Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linens and making beds.
• Engage with patients in therapeutic and recreational activities, particularly in mental health settings.
