About The Position

Smile Train is seeking a Temporary Junior Accountant to play a critical hands-on role in supporting their global finance team during an exciting system-wide ERP conversion. This role involves maintaining clean financial records, running essential reports, and assisting with data quality control. It is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional or recent graduate eager to gain practical experience in global non-profit finance and accounting, data analysis, and system implementation. The period of employment is from September 2026 to April 2027, with typical hours of 35 per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Complex formulas).
  • Base understanding of accounting standards and accrual basis accounting concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally from a related internship or entry-level role.

Responsibilities

  • Enter, code, and track daily financial transactions and vendor invoices accurately within the accounting system.
  • Process corporate credit card statements, out-of-pocket employee expense reimbursements, and accounts payable (AP) items.
  • Assist in preparing and setting up vendor payments via ACH and wire transfers.
  • Organize and maintain digital filing systems for vendor records, banking details, and tax documentation.
  • Assist with financial data entry, data cleaning, and record deduplication ahead of system migration.
  • Perform basic Quality Control (QC) checks on migrated financial data to ensure accuracy between legacy records and the new system.
  • Help cross-reference and verify general ledger (GL) entries, vendor list information, and historical transactions.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and routine general ledger reviews under supervision.
  • Assist with basic month-end schedules, including prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, fixed assets, and AP aging reports.
  • Review transactions against department budgets to ensure proper account and cost-center coding.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team by gathering audit schedules and pulling supporting documentation.
  • Execute other administrative duties and special data-entry or reporting projects assigned by supervisors.
