About The Position

Perform electrical work, which involves installation, modification, and repair of new and existing electrical components, systems, and other electrical work, which is subject to uniform electrical code. This role requires the ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for individuals with disabilities. The position involves maintaining and repairing electrical systems in all District facilities, including wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, as well as checking and maintaining fire alarms. The job also includes estimating material, repair, and labor costs for projects, ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code, and adhering to District policies and regulations. The employee will also perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate from high school or general education degree.
  • Two years of technical training in electrical systems or university program certificate.
  • Four to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Read and interpret procedures, policies and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff, and public.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid Class D Alaska driver’s license.
  • State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness.
  • Lift 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all District facilities.

  • Estimate material, repair, labor, and costs for projects related to field.
  • All work will be done in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
