About The Position

Sotheby's is seeking Temporary Event Staff to support its Luxury Week event, a premier high jewelry and timepiece exhibition. This role is crucial for ensuring a seamless, high-touch client experience and assisting with the handling and presentation of valuable items. The position requires availability from June 10th to June 15th, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST in NYC.

Requirements

  • Ability to create a premier client experience in any environment.
  • People-centric demeanor with an ability to multi-task in a high traffic environment.
  • Previous experience in client service, luxury, or hospitality-driven industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a pleasant client service-oriented attitude.
  • Proven experience employing problem-solving skills when dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Team player with a positive working rapport with colleagues.
  • Ability to stand for entire shift required.
  • Appropriate professional attire required at all times during working hours.

  • Prior experience in high jewelry/luxury timepieces.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients in person, assisting Client Services staff with language support, client and specialist liaison, and translating high-level exhibition information.
  • Maintain careful handling and security of all items, adhering to strict protocols for high-value assets.
  • Provide onsite support during dealer view and client-facing periods, ensuring a polished and seamless client experience.
  • Partner with internal teams to facilitate client interactions, assist with inquiries, and direct clients appropriately.
  • Assist with the release of property to clients and dealers, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with procedures.
  • Maintain a professional presence at all times, representing Sotheby’s brand standards in a high-touch, luxury environment.
  • Adhere to all security requirements, including background/credit check protocols and coordination with onsite security teams.
  • Follow strict dress code and conduct guidelines appropriate for a luxury client-facing environment.
  • Participate in required pre-event training (webinar or on-site) and comply with all event procedures.

Benefits

  • Proposed base hourly rate of $23.00 - $25.00.
